Bundanoon Men's Shed
The Bundanoon Men’s Shed is now fully operational at 11 Burgess Street, Bundanoon.
The Shed is a branch of the "Men’s Shed" movement - an Australian initiative designed to foster the wellbeing of men in the community - has been initiated in Bundanoon with the assistance of Anglicare, whose brief includes community health matters. Several grants have been obtained from sources including Wingecarribee Shire Council, Veolia Mulwarre Trust and the NSW Government to assist in building on leased land adjacent to the Rural Fire Service headquarters in Burgess St.
A general-purpose workshop opened in 2012, with a comfortable meeting room attached to act as a drop-in centre, which is open Tuesday to Thursday 9.00 am – 4.00 pm. In November 2013 Stage 2 was officially opened and has been fitted out internally for metalwork machinery, storage and a new community space for members meetings and relaxation in the mezzanine floor.
While the group has completed several projects for community benefit, it does not compete with local trades people.
Regular activities include bus trips to places of interest, a weekly Friday Art Group, a monthly Photography Group, Ipad Group, Poetry Group, Automotive Group and a fortnightly Science and Technology Group plus and occasional speakers on men’s interests and health issues. Our members also support Community activities driving courtesy buses for Brigadoon and Garden Ramble weekend events, delivering the Jordan’s Crossing Gazette and parking cars for the annual Highland Fling Bicycle Event.
