Following the meeting held at Council chambers last Friday between Mrs Tuite, her Architect, Councillors Halstead, Mc Laughlin, Arkwright, Stranger and BCA representatives, Clark and Bargon, we have been informed by Councillors Mc Laughlin and Arkwright, that Mrs Tuite has contacted them to say that she and her architect were considering possible changes to the bulk of the warehouse and the design and finishes of the development. This is an encouraging result, but still leaves unresolved the issue of the proposed light industrial use of the development. At the last Council meeting the Director of Environment and Planning was requested to prepare a detailed report into the process followed by Council in considering the Norlex development application. This report has now been distributed to councillors and is on the agenda for the next meeting of Council on Wednesday. The report's conclusion is as follows:
It is now up to councilors to decide whether to refuse or approve the development. However it is quite possible that they will decide to defer further consideration of the development until Norlex's modifications are received. We now expect that this matter will be debated at the Council meeting on Wednesday June 24. Any resident concerned about this proposal can attend to listen to the debate. The meeting commences at 3.30pm. Bundanoon Community Association 22 June 2009 |

I have spent years negotiating in big business with trade unions and it saddens me that the applicant does not as a sign of good faith remove the case from the land and environment court.
What happened to being open and honest then hopefully the community would welcome the new development of shops with the blessing of the heritage council.
Mediation is the key to harmony and it must be open having all council members and representavies of the community together, comprimise is the key to making the world go around and us all living together peacefully. Does this always have to come down to money. If only the applicant would discuss this issue on an even playing field??? Only my thoughts.
